The congregation gathers outside on Palm Sunday
The blessing of palms

This is Holy Week, when we commemorate the Passover of the Lord: the Death and Resurrection of Christ.

The Procession on Palm Sunday recreates the joy of the Lord's entry into Jerusalem

We began on Palm Sunday with the blessing of palm branches, and. before the 10.30am and 12 noon Masses there were processions outside.

All glory, laud, and honour, to Thee Redeemer King!

You can see the booklet with the order of service for the 10am Mass below.

Processing along High Petergate

At Mass on Palm Sunday the Passion according to St Matthew was sung. On Good Friday we will hear St John's account sung, with responses sung by the choir to the setting by Victoria.

The singing of the Passion

By participating in the liturgies of Holy Week we enter physically into the events of our redemption.
